ABOUT THESE SOUTHERN DOUBLE STAR PAGES
DOUBLE STAR, sometimes abbreviated as
just doubles, are stable gravitationally bound star systems
that have two or more components visible using optical aid.
This includes triple stars and other multiple systems, but
not the larger star clusters.
I have been interested in double stars for
many years now and slowly have been building up my
observations of these over many years of these sometimes
attractive objects. At last count, I have observed more
than 2000 systems, of which the majority have been southern
systems below —30° declination. Among these
pages are some interesting descriptions some of these
doubles, which I have ordered by Right Ascension. There is
also two indexes showing all the documented written pairs.
Hopefully, these new and improved pages will gradually be
further expanded, and will include more articles and
descriptions as I have time to do so – so it is
probably best to book mark this page.
Clear skies and good splitting!
